The Dean was proud to win Channel 4’s “Four in a Bed” award.
Set in two acres of beautiful grounds and offering exceptional accommodation. From golden sandy beaches to great golf courses, nature reserve and glorious coastal walks all nearby. The Dean is spacious and elegant, each room filled with curio and antiques of interest and accommodation to a high standard.
There is a separate drawing room for guests, and for accommodating a bigger party there is a large formal dining room which seats 16 people, together with other seating areas.
Two of three guest bedrooms look over the 6th green and have views across the Firth of Forth to the Kingdom of Fife. The other has views over the garden. There’s a tennis court (on which you are welcome to play), woodland walks, and because the house is on the edge of Longniddry village it’s only a five minute walk to the local pubs and an excellent restaurant.

This is a friendly and informal place to stay. Caroline has lived in East Lothian all her life and she loves this part of Scotland and its local history. She is always happy give advice about where to go and what to see, from ruined castles and a whisky distillery, to sandy beaches, nature reserves, coastal walks and island boat trips. In addition she can help with booking golf as well as give you suggestions about sight-seeing and shopping in Edinburgh.
The Dean has really easy access to Edinburgh (under 20 minutes by bus, train or car) and is in the midst of some of the finest golf courses in Scotland (19 of them are shown in the map further down this page).
For breakfast Caroline makes fresh coffee and tea or hot chocolate and a cooked Scottish breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages, croissants, rolls, toast (from the local bakery) as well as a choice of cereals and fruit salad.
There are many dinner options available. East Lothian has some excellent restaurants, and the local pub is known for its good food. It is very close, only about 5 minutes walk. Also with some advance notice Caroline is very happy to provide dinner.
Well behaved dogs are welcomed at The Dean – but only by arrangement. There is a kennel with dog-run.
